Part-Time Building Service Worker
WEBER COUNTY GOLDEN SPIKE FACILITIES. – PT (20-29 hr/wk) with Benefits including sick, vacation holidays and retirement (Schedule is 3 days a week, swing shift, holidays and weekends)
JOB SUMMARY Under the close supervision of an administrative superior, performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled cleaning and building construction, alteration, maintenance, and repair work.
MAJOR DUTIES (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in positions of this class.) Serves as a lead worker over volunteers. Performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled painting, carpentry, plastering, masonry, plumbing, metal work, electrical, mechanical maintenance, and related work. Hangs doors, lays flooring, installs partitions and drop ceilings, repairs door closures and performs other carpentry work. Repairs faucets, unstops clogged lines and performs other plumbing work. Installs and replaces light fixtures, outlets, bulbs, fuses, and performs other electrical work. Maintains and repairs locks, appliances, boilers, hydraulic controls, heating and refrigeration systems and related mechanical devices; monitors gauges and adjusts controls on equipment. Paints and redecorates walls, woodwork, furniture, and fixtures. Welds, brazes, solders, and cuts material using oxy-acetylene and electric welding equipment to repair existing structures or in the construction of new facilities. Prepares Coliseum arena and facilities for use; operates equipment and tools used in maintenance and repair work, includes use of agricultural tractors and implements. Performs monthly maintenance, checks, and periodic repair of gas hot water heaters and furnaces. Have a pro-active approach to seeing problems and opportunities and act and/or make recommendations. Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school graduation or equivalent. AND One year of experience involving manual skills related to building construction, alteration, maintenance, and repair work. OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of the standard methods, practices, tools, and materials used in a variety of building maintenance functions; Working knowledge of sound systems including set up and tear down; working knowledge of lawn sprinkler systems, landscaping tools an implements; working knowledge of tractors and implements; snow removal with equipment; Skill in the use of specialized and common tools and materials of several trades. Ability to clean and maintain host box stalls. Ability to perform moderately strenuous manual labor for extended periods of time; ability to follow written and verbal instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the general public.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS Must possess or be able to possess a valid Utah Driver’s license and have a good driving record. CDL licensure is preferred but not required for heavy equipment operation. Must be on call 24 hours a day; must have a telephone. Must be adaptable to changing work hours as shift hours may be varied. Working days could include weekends and working hours could include early mornings and late nights. Service workers may be required to be work events on weekends, evenings and holidays and may include day, swing and graveyard time schedules. Service workers are required to be on holiday and weekend checks.
