POSITION: Driver II
Part-time (Approximately 14 hours/week)
DEPARTMENT: Health – Senior Services
SALARY: $12.89 – $19.91/Hour (Starting salary commensurate with qualifications)

JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision from the Senior Center Bureau Manager or other administrative supervisor, operates a multi-passenger bus or van for the purpose of transporting passengers and meals within Davis County.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in positions of this class). Transports county senior citizens to and from home or other residence to various senior centers, activities, and medical appointments. Takes passengers grocery shopping; assists passengers in safely getting in and out of the vehicle as needed. Picks up and transports daily meal containers from the Davis County Jail to the senior centers, and returns meal containers to the jail; utilizes assistance from inmate workers to load meal containers. Effectively works with and assists passengers with mental and physical disabilities. Maintains appropriate temperature and cleanliness within the vehicle; responsible for preventative maintenance on the transport vehicles. Performs daily pre-inspections on assigned vehicle; cleans and fuels van and/or bus. Informs supervisor of vehicle malfunctions, damages, and need for preventive/general maintenance and other repairs on vehicle. Keeps accurate records of mileage; records number of clients picked up and taken home daily. Operates a motor vehicle in a safe manner and in compliance with all Utah laws and regulations. Performs related duties as assigned; other duties may include assisting in the senior centers at meal time, assisting with meal clean-up, activities, events, answering phones, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation (or equivalent). Preference for driving a multi-passenger vehicle or bus transporting passengers.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Must pass a criminal history background investigation. Must be at least 21 years old. Must possess or obtain immediately upon hiring, a valid Utah Class A, B, or C Commercial Driver License, and must also possess or obtain a passenger endorsement. Must possess or obtain immediately upon hiring, a valid DOT medical card. Must have a clean driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations within the last three (3) years. Must possess or obtain immediately upon hiring, a current Davis County Food Handler’s permit. Employees driving a personal vehicle while on county business must maintain the minimum vehicle liability insurance as specified in the Utah Code.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Davis County is a drug-free workplace. All successful applicants for positions in the County must successfully pass a drug screen prior to employment. Proof of automobile insurance and a current Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) required with application; applicants with a Utah driver’s license can obtain an MVR through the State Driver’s License Division or through the Human Resources.
