POSITION: Event Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Legacy Events Center

SALARY: $19.09 – $29.49/Hour (Starting salary commensurate with qualifications)

JOB SUMMARY: GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general guidance and direction of the Legacy Events Center Director, performs a variety of duties in planning and coordinating activities related to the annual Davis County Fair.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES (Any one position does not include all of the duties listed; nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in positions of this class). Plans and organizes the annual Davis County Fair. Schedules and coordinates events, activities, and entertainment appropriate for a community celebration including, but not limited to, rodeos, concerts, motor sports events, contests, sports events, etc. Schedules appropriate facilities; determines space, equipment, and labor requirements for proposed activities; provides for and coordinates specialized labor and/or equipment needs when necessary. Oversees and ensures proper preparation of buildings and grounds for fair events. Coordinates the work of volunteers and vendor activities. Supervises a college intern. Assists with Fair Committee functions and coordinates various fair activities with appropriate committee members. Attends other community celebrations, fairs, festivals, and similar events to promote the Davis County Fair and to review, evaluate and select entertainment. Attends training and conventions to broaden event planning skills. Contacts businesses and organizations to solicit support and sponsorships. Establishes a network within the business community to assist with meeting sponsorship revenue goals. Develops and disseminates brochures, flyers, press releases and other promotional materials. Updates and maintains the Davis County Fair web page and ensures content is accurate and conveys current information. Promotes the fair through active use of social media. Works extended flexible hours in preparation for and during the fair. Operates a motor vehicle in a safe manner and in compliance with all Utah laws and regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in recreation management, business management, marketing, parks/recreation, or a closely related field, plus two (2) years of paid full-time experience in event planning or operations, recreation planning, marketing, or a directly related field; an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered. Preference for experience in planning fairs, festivals or other large community events.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Must furnish personal transportation for on-the-job driving. Employees driving a personal or a County vehicle for job related travel must possess a valid driver license and must operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner; new employees with an out-of-state driver license must obtain a valid Utah Driver License within sixty (60) days of hire date (exceptions for military personnel and their dependents). Employees driving a personal vehicle while on county business must maintain the minimum vehicle liability insurance as specified in the Utah Code.
