Full-Time Lead Mechanic
Under general direction, leads, oversees, and participates in the more complex and difficult work of staff. Responsible for performing a variety of skilled, semi-skilled technical diagnostic, repair and maintenance work on a variety of automotive, truck, tractors and other light and heavy power-drive equipment; ensures adherence to safe working practices and procedures; provides training to mechanics; and performs related duties as assigned. Performs advanced journey level mechanic work maintaining and repairing a variety of vehicles and equipment and coordinating work of fellow mechanics.
Leads and instructs other mechanics in the proper techniques of repair or maintenance of unfamiliar or new equipment; in coordination with the Service Writer, oversees and schedules work being performed in the shop and related duties in the absence of the Fleet Manager; in coordination with the Service Writer, schedules and performs vehicle and equipment repairs; completes work orders and maintains records of work performed and parts used on the work orders; verifies all repairs and maintenance have been properly completed.
