Full-Time Victim Advocate
Box Elder County has an opening for a full-time Victim Advocate. The full-time Victim Advocate works under close supervision of the Box Elder County Attorney, and in cooperation with all other criminal justice agencies, will provide compassionate, long and short-term personal support, education, and advocacy for victims of crime within Box Elder County. The Victim Advocate will responds appropriately to the needs of the clients of Victim Services through proper assessment of their safety, physical and emotional needs including but not limited to: 1) Educating clients of their constitutional and statutory rights, and 2) notifying and educating clients of court and criminal procedures that applies to each individual case.
Those interested in this position must be a high school or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field is preferred or equivalent experience/training in human services, crisis intervention, able to speak and write the English language and ability to speak Spanish is desirable. Minimum six (6) months of experience in victim assistance or equivalent is required. Applicants must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen. Applicant must have a valid Utah Class D Driver’s License, be over 18 years old, be able to work effectively with victims in a mature, non-judgmental and sensitive matter; and be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
